Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is it safe where we’re going?

This area is very safe. Nature-lovers, adventure-seekers and travelers with an appreciation for sacred archeological wonders visit Palenque and the surrounding jungle. The retreat center is very private and our group will have exclusive access to the entire property.

  • Is this retreat for women only?

While the Immortal Sisters Conference has the mission to support the legacy of female Taoist practitioners, this retreat is open to Immortal Siblings of all gender-identities. All people are welcome, and multiple attendees have expressed excitement about coming with their partners. Check out our special pricing for couples!

  • Do you have to be an experienced Qigong practitioner to attend?

No prior experience is required. All levels are welcome, come as you are!

  • How do we get there?

Villahermosa is the closest airport. We have arranged for chartered transportation between Villahermosa Airport and the retreat center. Pick up is 3pm on January 29th from VSA to our retreat center. The return departs from our retreat center on February 4th at 12pm. The ride takes about 2 hours.

  • What do we need while we’re there?

A detailed packing list will be sent to you after registration. TLDR version: Comfortable clothes for practice in warm weather, bathing suits, swim robe/cover or sarong, sneakers or hiking shoes, sandals, journal (if you like). We will create a group altar, so feel free to bring anything for the altar, or as an offering to the jungle..

  • What is the weather like?

For this time of year, average temperatures range from 67 at night to 85 in the daytime. Rainfall is sparse, with averages of 2-3 inches per month in January and February.

  • I don’t eat meat/spicy foods/gluten, can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We have worked closely with the retreat center to craft a menu of fresh, healthy meals for brunch and dinner. These will all have vegetarian options. Anything spicy will be labeled as such and not-spicy options will be available. Traditional Mexican food uses very little gluten, the primary grains are oats, corn and rice. If you have specific needs, please let us know ASAP and we will do our best to provide alternative options.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation Policy: Refunds prior to December 29th, 2024 will incur a $350 cancellation fee. After that, refunds will be made only if a replacement can be found. This policy is firm. We strongly recommend the purchase of adequate travel insurance.

  • Is there WIFI?

There is Wi-Fi at the facility. Cell phone reception is strong in most areas on the property. If needed, you could use your phone as a hotspot for using your laptop. Zoom and video calls have a tendency to be unstable, we encourage you to unplug as much as possible and take advantage of the opportunity to truly retreat in nature.
